Book Club

September 30, 2017

Angela Triandafillou Jones completed a series of blog posts as part of a "book club," centered around Adele Faber's and Elaine Mazlish's book "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & How to Listen So Kids Will Talk." Angela's reflections on each chapter of this book offer us great insight as teachers, helping us to think carefully about how we speak to and listen to our students as they develop as musicians. For your convenience and enjoyment, find the links to each chapter below!

Chapter 1 - Helping Children Deal with Their Feelings
Chapter 2 - Engaging Cooperation
Chapter 3 - Alternatives to Punishment
Chapter 4 - Encouraging Autonomy
Chapter 5 - Praise
Chapter 6 - Freeing Children from Playing Roles
Chapter 7 - Putting It All Together (and a final reflection)
